Christmas Porridge
- 3 Tbsp Quaker Quick Cook Oats
- 1 banana sliced / other fruits of choice
- 1 tsp dried citrus peel or use fresh citrus rind
- 2 tbsp yogurt/ milk / cream
- 1 tbsp honey
- Pinch of cinnamon
1. Put the oats in bowl. Pour hot boiling water over oats to cover and cover. Set aside to soften about 15mins. HACK: This method will soften and cook the oats without needing to boil in pot ! Gives a grainy, wholemeal texture. If prefer a creamy oats then use Quaker Instant Oats.
2. Stir in honey, yogurt, cinnamon.
3. Decorate with sliced banana or fruits of choice .
4. Sprinkle the citrus peel.
Cinnamon and citrus gives the Christmasy ? taste.
I start each day with a bowl of oats and I change the toppings and spicing to reflect the festivity like CNY I put in pineapple jam taste like pineapple tarts or bakkwa or floss to make a savory bowl.
