English Porridge with Caramelised Figs and Strawberry Compote
Ingredients

(Serves 1)

- 1 Cup of Quick Cook Quaker Oats

- 1/2 Cup of Almond Milk (may be substituted with dairy milk or water)

- 1 Fig; washed, dried, and halved

- 3 Tbsp of Raw Sugar, or more according to your liking

- 4 Overriped Strawberries; washed, dried, and chopped into quarters

Procedure

1. Place 1 Tbsp of raw sugar into a small pot. Heat over medium heat. Once sugars start to dissolve, put the halved fig into the pot with the skin side up. Lower the flame to small.

2. Remove from heat once figs have softened. This takes about 5 to 10mins.

3. Using the same pot, mix strawberries and the remaining 2 Tbsp of raw sugar. Cook over medium heat and stir occasionally to prevent the sugars from sticking to the bottom of the pot.

4. When the strawberries have softened and all the sugars have dissolved, transfer to a small bowl.

5. To make the oatmeal porridge, put the oats and almond milk in the same pot. Cook over medium to high heat, stirring constantly so that oatmeal doesn't stick to the bottom.

6. It is ready once oatmeal has taken to a porridge-like consistency.

7. Assemble all, with the porridge first, followed by strawberry compote and caramelized figs. Enjoy this healthy nutritious meal!
